Ruth and Kens goings on May 2014

Hi everyone,

Hope you like the look of our new web site! We thought we would keep it plain and simple..none of them fancy whistles and bells that annoy you when visiting some web sites!

We've been ever so busy with our little place in Wales! It suffered some neglect before we bought it and as always you never quite know how much so until you start taking the wallpaper off the walls etc.   Even so we love it, spending our spare time in the garden, growing flowers and in the veggie patch. Oh and chasing the chickens off the lupins!

Mable is still with us and ruling the household. She's very indignant about our feathered residents in the garden and appears to be terrified of them and gingerly tippy-toe's past the chucks in case they cluck a little too loudly at her.

Powell Guitars has taken up a lot of our time,  with a constant stream of Guitar and Gazouki orders leaving the workshop to be with there new owners, which is fantastic.  So, combined with the tour we are soon embarking on as 'Risky Business', we have neglected the music we play as the duo a little. But its all good news and we are enjoying ourselves immensely, especially rehearsing with Dave again after all these years.

We have managed to find the time to record our new CD 'The Tree' and are really chuffed with it. Its only taken 5 years! We have kept it to a minimum for the most part as is on our live performances.  Other than a few extra vocals on 2 tracks and a whistle (courtesy of Terry Clarke-Coyne) on a couple, what you hear is the sound you listen to live.

Once the Risky Business dates are finished we'll  be out and about as just the 2 of us.    See our diary for any dates that come up near you and we'll say hello in the flesh! Or if you cant wait try and catch us at one of the Risky Business dates through early summer.

The other thing that takes up a massive amount of time is the little festival we now run in our village. Its in its second year and have all our fingers and toes crossed it will be as successful as last year. The Llanwddyn Weekend of folk and acoustic music is held on the 5th and 6th September 2014. visit www.llanwddynevents.co.uk for more information.

Meanwhile,  enjoy this wonderful late spring time. Keep well and take care of each other.

See you soon
